Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race #100

Many of you don't know that I was a cyclist for a little while. With having devoted so much of my time before I graduated from high school to mashing pedals all around the country shooting at mountain bike races brings me back to enjoying time with my cycling family. From seeing old friends racing to hearing people heckle someone through a pump track it just really doesn't get much better.

Last night was Over the Hump's 100th race, that's right, a weekday race that brings in around 600 racers to Irvine Lake for some mid-week mountain bike racing. This race is totally family style, music, beer and plenty of areas on the course to watch people ripping around.

Congrats to the crew that puts on Over the Hump, 100 races is an awesome accomplishment. Enjoy some photos from the first two races at Over the Hump this season.

Seeing the group rolling through coming down the pump track like a snake was pretty awesome. Plenty of crashes all throughout the first lap.

Some people just flat out killed it through the pump track, this was one of those racers last night at race number 100.

I mean, I think a Santa Cruz needs no words because this thing is just badass.

Another shredder killin it through the pump track. It's funny when people criticize those that are getting rad through the pump track. A pump track is supposed to be fun, just send it.

This pump track had an upper corner with two lanes, these two stayed side by side the entire way down. Was some solid mountain bike racing with two totally different styles.

The pro race offers some fast guys, plenty of good times watching the fast dudes tear through this section. The bike handling skills behind guys like Brandon Gritters never fails to make you wish you had the skills.

As the night came to a close I decided to shoot from a different angle as the sunset started to roll in, I'd say it turned out pretty badass catching the last couple of riders coming through the pump track.

Over the Hump always offers a great mid-week getaway. Located at Irvine Lake in Orange County it's an easy drive from almost anywhere in Orange County. Bring the whole family as it's a great venue to just hangout and have a good time even if you aren't racing.
